I will admit that I am not a big fan of coloring when I stamp and make cards and so I don’t normally gravitate to line art stamp sets. But, Basket of Wishes was calling my name from the moment I turned the page! I know when that happens, I HAVE TO HAVE IT!! I absolutely LOVE the different baskets and sayings and especially the versatility of using it for many seasons. When it comes to stamp sets, I try to make sure that I can use a set for at least 5 different occasions or projects before I decide to invest in it and this stamp set fit the bill!
My mom’s birthday was at the end of August so thankfully as a demonstrator, I was able to preorder this set and have it delivered before her birthday. You see, she LOVES succulents and has been planting and selling succulent arrangements in antique and vintage containers all summer. So, I had to use this set to make her a birthday card!
I used a Mint Macaron card base and the next layer is Crumb Cake embossed with the woodgrain embossing folder. I used one of our new Delicate White Doilies to create the focal point of the card which was the basket of succulents. I stamped the basket and the succulents with our Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad. I let this dry for a bit before coloring.
I added the color to the basket of succulents using our ink pads and a blender pen. I went outside to my own succulent arrangement for color inspiration! I used Crumb Cake for the basket and Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzazz for the succulents. I color so infrequently, I forgot how fun it is! I think I need to increase my coloring stamp collection!
I finished the card with a banner greeting and a Mint Macaron ribbon. I think it turned out cute and my mom loved it which is the most important thing! I ended up making 12 more of these cards since I was recently in a swap and thought it would make a good swap card.
What do you think? Do you enjoy coloring and the stamp sets that involve coloring? Let me know!
Here is my succulent inspiration (and my dog Winnie got in a couple of the pics too!)
